DEM 201 Dementia awareness

I need to outline the medical and social models of dementia, please could someone point me in the right direction as I don't understand what this means...... Or you could just give me the answer as its Christmas lol

Hi Eileen,

In short:

The medical model sees the individual as the problem. They need to adapt to fit into society and if they can't they will be sidelined and isolated.

The social model sees that society needs to change to accommodate individuals. It recognises the person rather than the illness/disability.
