04/06/09 - Consultation on new registration standards
CQC will soon be launching a public consultation to help develop guidance which makes clear to care providers what they need to do to be compliant with new registration requirements.
Background to the consultation
The legal framework for the regulation of health and adult social care is changing. From April 2010 all regulated health and adult social care providers will be required by law to register with CQC. They must show they are meeting new registration requirements - essential common quality standards across the care sector.
Registration will help to make sure that the rights of people who use services are protected and promoted. It will also make sure that swift action is taken where services are failing people.
If you would like to take part in the consultation click here to download a consultation pack. The consultation will run from 1 June 2009 to 24 August 2009.
